Each year we host the Chamber Annual Awards Banquet to celebrate the past year with our members and their employees and to honor those in the Cheyenne County business community who have made a difference to others.
This year's awards are:
Heroes Among Us: What is a hero? We understand not everyone can make a stunning rescue or stop a bank robbery but there are unsung heroes in our community. We have defined five types: Transitional, Transparent, Transitional, Trending, and Transitory. Please click on the nomination form for more details.
New Business of the Year: This award is given to a new business that has had a positive impact on the business community.
Individual of the Year who provided Outstanding Customer Service: Outstanding customer service involves understanding the product or service being sold, going beyond customers expectations, fulfilling explicit and implied promises to customers, showing respect and interacting with customers outside the parameters of business transactions. Exceptional customer service also involves developing real relationships with the customers and listening to their concerns and desires.
E.K. Yanney Award: Ek Yanney was a banker from Lodgepole that was very active in economic development issues on a county-wide basis. He saw the need to make sure things in Sidney were progressive and growing because it also affected all the other regional towns. He was very involved with the early day economic development groups such as Panhandle Growth, Inc., and the High Plains Development Group, serving as president of both organizations and was very active and supportive of the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce. It was his influence, along with John Egging, to give the Chamber a county-wide perspective, as opposed to just being known as a Sidney Chamber of Commerce.
Citizen of the Year: The Citizen of the year award is given to honor an individual whose is pridefully recognized and regarded as a role model to those throughout Cheyenne County. This outstanding citizen will be chosen for their definable, exceptional deeds, with which he or she has made their community a better place to live.
Business Revitalization: Making Cheyenne County a more beautiful place, this award is presented to a business that has made considerable improvements or renovations to their business in 2017.
Economic Development Project of the Year: Reserved for the company or developer that has made the most outstanding contribution to Cheyenne County with a major project completion affecting the economy of the area in 2017.
