A community’s downtown
business district, its Main Street, is the heart of that community. It is
about much more than just commerce. Main Street gets to the heart of the
resident, the tourist, the commuter, and those passing through. A
successful Main Street has the ability to create emotion along with that "sense
of place" feeling.
Historic Downtown Sidney
strives to have an economically vital, visually appealing, diverse Main Street
that embraces our history as well as maintains our hometown character.
Historic Downtown Sidney is a 501(c)6 non-profit
organization under the umbrella of the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce that
uses the Main Street Four Point Approach™
to enhance downtown Sidney's social and economic vitality. Created by the
National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Four Point Approach™
is a comprehensive method centered on Design, Organization, Economic
Restructuring, and Promotion to revitalize downtown. Historic Downtown Sidney
became Accredited by the National Main Street Center in 2008.
In 2006, Historic Downtown
Sidney, in cooperation with the Nebraska Main Street Program, conducted a
visioning session. An all-encompassing vision was developed and can be found
here. |
