Annual Newcomer's Picnic set for
August 9, 2007
The newcomer’s picnic committee held their first
meeting of the year to begin planning for the 11th annual
newcomer’s picnic, which is scheduled for August 9th at 6:00 pm
at Legion Park’s Shelter House.
This year’s picnic will feature musical entertainment, games sponsored by
the Sidney Jaycees, free drawings, and a free picnic offered to any
individual or family new to Cheyenne County within the last year and a
half. Long time Chamber members, Chamber board, and Ambassadors are
encouraged to attend as well.
Businesses wishing to
make a donation can call Megan at the Chamber office. For any questions
regarding the picnic, please contact the Cheyenne County Chamber of
Commerce.
Gold Rush Days Comes to Sidney
The 2007, 4th
Annual Gold Rush Days event is shaping up to be the largest one yet. The
Committee has family events planned beginning on Friday evening through
Saturday evening. Some of these events include: on Friday evening,
raising of the tipi, a 5K race lit by Tiki Torches and kids 1 mile run, and
bring your hotdogs, marshmallows, and lawn chairs to sit around the campfire
and hear story telling by Native Americans and Cowboy Ray Stokes. After dark
there will be the firing of the cannon along with some cannon
demonstrations.
On Saturday, events
include a biscuit and gravy breakfast, a pioneer living history village,
wagon rides, a muleskinner, black smith, Wild West gunfights, food vendors,
Quick Draw shooting contest, pie baking contest, kids games, continuous live
entertainment, and more! The event will be fun for the whole family!
All events take
place in Sidney’s Legion Park. Friday evening events begin at 7:00 PM with
the raising of the tipi followed by the Friday Night Gold Rush 5K race and
kids 1 mile, which begin at 8:15 PM. Saturday morning will kickoff
with breakfast at 8:00 AM.

ADC Hosts Business After Hours
Over 80 people attended the
Business After Hours hosted by ADC Digital communications. The event
featured great food, networking, plant tours, and free safety glasses.
